Taking some time off

Hey Guys,

Just a short posting to let you all know that things are going ok. We've opted since we're comfortable to take some time out of our schedule to just kick back and relax a little. Since the Days are short, and it's been a little chilly, we're not exactly in the heart of construction season anyway. Although saying that we've been in positive digits on temperatures for a couple of weeks at least, and we have a rather heavy snow build up in comparison to our two previous years.

Anyway this is just a short notice to let you know we're doing fine, and not to worry. Happy belated Thanksgiving, and hope you and your families have a great holiday season.

Super good to hear from you and that all is well. You have worked so hard to get this far and in adverse conditions--you deserve a break. I've noticed that I have colder here in NW Texas than you have been at times! Has been bitter cold here with strong winds.

Blessings to you both...Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Nice to see all is well :) I was just looking the other day to see if you had been on. Looks like y'all have been hard at work for 2 mo.

I was going through some old posts and came upon the tent floor plan (don't know how I missed that one!. I was wondering if you would like to share a "drawing" of your cabin's floor plan. :)

Still stuck in humid 70* Dec TX!

Hey Velma, I posted the 3d model of our cabin in the "Making Concessions" post from April 2010 that shows our "floor plan" -- really not much to it, the southern 2/3 of the downstairs is the living room/kitchen and the northern 1/3 is split in half with the pantry and the stairwell with the loo underneath. The upstairs is an open loft with the bed, some built-ins along the sloped walls, and the battery bank/inverter & 200 gallon water storage tank in a utility closet.

I was dropping in to tell you to have a happy new year, and then I noticed it's -51 degrees!!!! I bet you guys are so glad you have your nice warm cabin. I have to ask though what temperature do you keep it on the inside? Given it's -51 outside can you easily get it to 60 - 70 degrees inside, or is that to warm for you? I'm asking because I know here it's hard for us to keep our house at 70 when it's in the 20s, and that's only a 50 degree difference not a 100+ difference. Of course here is not typically ever in the 20s, and I'm sure your cabin is way better insulated than our house. Our house was built for wind/hurricanes not extreme cold.

Stay warm, and happy new year!!!!
