Insulation - Part 2

Today we finished blowing in the downstairs walls and the floor joists. We had just enough unfrozen insulation to get that done, as well as to go back and do a little bit of touch-up fill in areas that settled after we went through and palpitated the mesh vigorously. Yes, we looked kind of funny prodding and fondling our walls, but it's the absolute best way to make sure you get dense packed in every nook and cranny. It's likely that we're stuffed so tight to the gills that we'll have to compress it a bit when we go to install the drywall.

But anyway, the insulation is all done now, and we have about 5 bags worth of damp/frozen clumps spread out on the floor in front of the wood stove that we can break up and re-fluff once it's dry again in case we need to add a little more stuffing in anywhere or insulate the dog house or something LOL.

The cabin is sooooo warm and toasty; and, for the very first time, I could walk on the floor without hearing or feeling footsteps. I'm just going to do my happy hamster dance again!!

GREAT!
Just in time for the spring thaw. I remember how nice it was when we got our cabin dried in and we could work no matter what the weather was doing. Things should move along quickly for you now.

Great update! With all that you two have gone through, by the time you get done nothing will phase you ever again!

Plickety - try not to do yourself in - karma or no karma! ;~)

BTW - loved the ultimate cure for "all the drama"!

YEAH!!!!! So when are you moving?

Yep - just the vapor barrier, hanging & mudding the drywall, planing/sanding & sealing the exposed loft joists, painting the walls, installing & sealing the tongue & groove flooring, and painting (pickling) & installing the kitchen cabinets & counter and we'll be ready to move in.

The installation portions are two (or three, if Ken comes to play) man jobs; but all the painting/finish work is on me... cuz I'm a teeny bit OCD that way LOL!

G's birthday is in 5 weeks... let's see if I can get us move-in ready before then :D

We can wait until after the move to install the doors properly, and put in the real windows, and install the siding. Then we get to furiously attempt to get the porches built before the rain comes because we can't seal & shingle the cabin roof until the integral east & west porches are on.

Hmmm... we might be able to take a weekend off when the rain comes. No rest for the wicked!
