Cabin Building - Day Twelve

No progress...  game called on account of rain and injuries :(

Will run into the village tomorrow morning to check mail... hopefully the brake parts will be in so we can have the truck back in working condition this weekend. Especially since we're going to need to get into Fairbanks pretty soon for more supplies and to start our major winter stocking up.

Are your atv boots for your cv joints? If so, and they are still intact they can be reattached with hose clamps. just clean them, and repack with grease.

Yes, the boots on the CV/U joint. They're totally demolished now, beyond even the most creative duct-tape repairs ;) We're going to have to replace them, but we have spares and grease... just need a dry day to swap them out.

I have enjoyed reading your journey, thus far.

How far from your building site is the lumber stacked?

How long do you have now, until 'freeze-up'?

Thanks for sharing.

Have a great day!

Hi Kris, thanks for joining us :)

We have two stacks of lumber. One is right by the tent, which is about 1/4 mile from the cabin site, and it's mostly posts, plank flooring and 2x4's. And the other is at the top of the main trail by the highway because we couldn't get it back to the tent due to mud, that one's about a 1 mile from the cabin site by trail, and has the remaining 2x12s (8 foot and 16 foot) and all the 4x8 sheets of plywood & sheathing.

We could reasonably expect snow in the next couple weeks, but real "freeze up" isn't usually until mid-late October. We've already got the woodstove fired up for the season since it's getting down to 40 at night. Days are still warm as long as it's not raining, but autmun is definitely here.
